Have you received an invitation for an ERC interview? Congratulations! That’s already a major achievement. But one decisive hurdle remains: the interview. How do you prepare to deliver your best possible performance? Here’s our proven approach.
We believe 8 weeks is the ideal timeframe to peak at the right moment. Our preparation program follows a logical sequence, addressing every critical aspect step by step. Let’s count down.
8 Weeks: Build Your Winning Strategy
This is where the foundation is laid. We start by mapping the panel—exploring their academic backgrounds and research interests to identify common ground and potential gaps.
Next, we define your core message (what are you really selling?) and your unique selling points (why should they buy it?).
With these strategic insights, drafting your presentation becomes much easier. Our e-learning platform, packed with tips and tricks, supports you throughout.
7 Weeks: Craft Your Script and Slides
Now we refine your script and slides—conceptually and in detail. Slide by slide, line by line, even word by word. We bring an outside perspective and storytelling instinct to ensure your message resonates with the panel.
This process is not only about persuasion—it’s motivating. A well-designed presentation reconnects you with your own inspiration, and genuine belief in your story is the key to a convincing performance.
6 Weeks: Design Compelling Slides
With a solid draft in place, our designers create slides that do more than explain—they convince. We aim for visuals that reflect your strategy, align with your personality, and maintain a consistent, professional look and feel.
We also optimize your on-screen presence. In a studio session, our video coach helps with background, lighting, sound, and clothing. If you look professional, you’re perceived as a professional, is the subtle subconscious effect.
5 Weeks: Understand Your Stress
Strategy: check. Story: check. Slides: check. Now it’s time to prepare for the psychological side. The interview is a high-stress situation that triggers responses—some counterproductive. Our coach helps you recognize these patterns and teaches techniques to manage stress effectively.
4 Weeks: Shock Therapy
Your first mock interview is a realistic rehearsal. It provides exposure, surfaces questions, and shows where improvement is needed. We call this shock therapy—it’s intense but motivating. You’ll leave knowing exactly what to focus on next.
3 Weeks: Master Presentation and Q&A
Building on insights from the mock interview, we coach you on delivery: voice, pace, pauses, breathing. Presentations can be rehearsed until you feel fully in control.
Q&A is different—you can’t predict every question, but you can learn strategies to stay calm and in control. Most questions are predictable, and we’ll teach you how to handle surprises with confidence.
2 Weeks: Almost There
Another mock interview shows how far you’ve come. The difference from the first session is striking. Feedback now focuses on fine-tuning—small details in your script, slides, and answers. You’ll feel reassured and ready.
1 Week: The Final Stretch
In the last week, we polish everything. A final coaching session ensures your presentation and Q&A are sharp. Tiny adjustments, if needed, are made. You’re ready.
Interview Day
Sitting in the Webex waiting room, you know you’ve done everything possible. A quick mental checklist confirms you’re prepared. You’re ready for this academic challenge.
Bring it on!
